Zaha Hadid for Arzu

Arzu is thrilled to share in a partnership with internationally acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid. Hadid graciously designed a one-of-a-kind rug for Arzu, with proceeds of all rug sales benefiting Arzu s programs in Afghanistan.

As the youngest person and the first woman to be awarded the distinguished Pritzker Architecture Prize, Hadid has earned the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for architecture. Iraqi-born Hadid has over 30 years of experience with revolutionary experimentation and research in urbanism, architecture, and design. She has been celebrated worldwide for her talents and praised for her ingenuity and striking images. Some of Hadid s current projects include The Architecture Foundation in London, the Aquatic Center for the London 2010 Olympic Games, and the Business Bay Towers in Dubai. A full-scale retrospective of Hadid's work is currently being displayed at London's Design Museum. Early in January 2008, Hadid was chosen to design the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University in East Lansing. Expected to open in 2010, the museum will be Hadid's first university building and only her second U.S. project.

For her Arzu rug design, Hadid combined a color palate of intense black and white to showcase her clean lines and modern style. The lines complex intersections radiate energy and highlight Arzu weavers refined skills.

Arzu is proud to offer Hadid s spectacular rug design in three sizes: 3 x 10, 3 x 12, and 3 x 14. If you have questions about Hadid s involvement with Arzu or would like to place an order, please contact Arzu's Director of Sales, Suzana Rizzo at 312.321.8665 or[email protected].
