What does this mean?

The Colorado Regenerative Agriculture Fund provides a pool of capital for regenerative agriculture projects in Colorado, USA with the opportunity for possible dividend returns to group members. Regenerative Agriculture is an emerging field of agriculture focused on the planting, growth and harvest of alternative nitrogen-fixing crops. It is a sub-sector practice of organic farming designed to build soil health or to regenerate unhealthy soils and includes high carbon sequestration crops which can assist in CO2 reduction.

Recently relaxed laws in Colorado have opened new markets for industrial hemp production. The nitrogen-fixing roots of industrial hemp are an ideal crop for soil regeneration, and offer a wide set of end uses. Products include hemp seed for consumer food products including oil, hearts, flour, meal, CBD oil for medicinal products, hemp meal for fish feed, dairy animals & chickens. Hurd (stalk) for building materials, wallboard, tile, counter tops. Bast Fiber for cloths, canvas, insulation, textiles. Hemp pulp for paper product. Cellulose for plastics & organic chemicals, Lignin for making carbon fibers, and sugars for organic polymers.

The US industrial hemp market reached sales of US$500 Million in 2015, and is projected to grow to $1.5 Billion by 2020. This fund seeks to invest into regenerative agriculture projects, degraded farmland for use and soil restoration, and the development of byproducts and materials from crop yields.

A key aspect of good regenerative agriculture is the selection and placement of high carbon sequestering crops that reduce CO2 in greater amounts than conventional mono crops like corn or cotton. Projects focused on agriforestry and high sequestration permanent agriculture define the focus.
