Environmental Honors Awarded at the Governors' Global Climate Summit
The
Governors' Environmental and Economical Leadership Awards (GEELA) are
California
s most prestigious environmental honor given to those Californians
who protect and enhance the environment while promoting economic growth.
On September
30, the 2009 GEELA celebration took place at the Governors' Global
Climate Summit
in the
Hub Culture Pavilion at the Century Plaza
Hotel in Los Angeles. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was on hand to personally
award this group of innovative companies and individuals for their work in the
following categories:

Ecosystem and Watershed
Environmental and Economic Partnerships
Comprehensive Land Use Planning
Technological and Market Innovation

The event
ended the first official day of the three-day Governors' Global Climate Summit,
produced by JupiterPx.
The summit brings together government leaders, heads of organizations, the
scientific community and other stewards of the environment dedicated to finding
lasting solutions to global climate change.
The day began
in
the Los Angeles Ballroom with a
video presentation by actor Harrison Ford
that introduced www.teamearth.com
and
continued on with
several other general sessions and breakouts
that
included international environmental and political luminaries.
