Energy Strategies for the New Green Economy

This wiki is locked

Welcome to the Energy project notes

These are the main topics being discussed at the Summit.  Participants can add to these subjects with information, best practices and project developments.  Over time they will grow into their own projects for development of ideas, projects and solutions going toward Copenhagen.  Best of all, groups can be created to submit projects for eligibility for the Ven Prize - an Award of over V100,000.

Overview

Energy use is a primary source of greenhouse gas emissions in each of the world's major emitting nations. Achieving significant and sustainable reductions in GHG emissions from the energy sector while minimizing other environmental and socio-economic effects will require not only a combination of efficiency and renewable electricity generation, but integrated resource policies and mitigation strategies as well. New technology and political processes must combine to effect multi-sector and system wide reductions in energy demand needed to achieve climate goals.  This panel will assemble technical, business, and policy experts to discuss successful strategies and examples of projects and programs that can provide energy solutions for the new green economy.

What are the Goals?

The goal of the Energy panel is to focus on the successes and challenges characteristic of the evolving new green economy.  Specifically the panel will: 1 ) highlight several diverse and significant energy efficiency and renewable energy development success stories from multiple nations ; 2) present a range of integrated management strategies for consolidating energy demand and generation into regional and subnational programs and implementation; and 3) provide evidence of the economic value and employment benefits of investing in both integrated management strategies and energy efficiency and renewable technologies.
