Climate change isn't a distant threat—it's happening now, and it's our biggest problem. The urgency is real, but so are the solutions to stop global warming.

Last year, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Stan Stalnaker welcomed Julia Jackson as a guest on the Chronicle Discussions podcast where they talked about her own personal experience with climate change and how this accelerated her determination to find climate solutions.

Julia Jackson, a second-generation proprietor of Jackson Family Wines, became very aware of climate and how it affected the land and ability to grow crops at a young age. After a gradual change over the last 10 years, Julia and her family were severely impacted by the 2017 wildfires in California which caused billions of dollars worth of damage. After seeing what she describes as the 'apocalypse', Julia decided she wanted to have more of an impact than being a philanthropist and writing a check...and from then Grounded was born.

Grounded was launched in 2018 as a platform and annual summit that convenes climate “solutionists” together with funders and policymakers under one roof to address climate concerns. Through innovations in science and technology, as well as shifts in the societal view of the environment, Grounded encourages thought-leaders to work together to “deploy solutions and create real change.” Since its inception, the strategy for Grounded has evolved to focus on developing an online educational platform to empower the next generation of climate innovators by equipping them with knowledge of actual solutions that will not discourage and dishearten.
