Although Singapore is a small country contributing about 0.1% of global emissions, our government is determined to do our part in achieving net zero. In February 2021, Singapore has launched the Singapore Green Plan 2030, a sustainable development 10-year plan, with firm action plans that touches on almost every dimension of our lives. As part of this initiative, the Singapore Government will support new programmes or initiatives that progress the nation’s ambitions to become a sustainable air transport hub. This includes subsidising sustainable projects that implements clean technologies such as carbon capturing and offsetting. Companies can tap onto eligible international carbon credits to fulfil part of their carbon tax liability kicking in 2024. Aviation companies in Singapore are encouraged to take on more sustainable means to maintain their operations, bringing Singapore one step closer towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
