Getting a tech job can be difficult. Employers often expect a certain amount of education and experience before they want to hire someone, so knowing what kind of tech job you are specifically interested in can help tremendously in the long run. Knowing what career to build isn't always obvious, however, since not tech jobs are created equal; many technical disciplines, while intellectually intensive, are simply not as valuable to employers as others are. If you are looking for a technology career that is in demand, here are a few ideas to help you along with your job search.

Machine learning is a topic that is on the minds of many engineering employers, and machine learning engineers have recently seen a significant amount of job growth. Such engineers are paid well, too, but keep in mind that getting a large paycheck usually requires a similarly large number of qualifications.

A career in Information Technology can certainly be viable, and the term refers to more than the simple "IT support" role that is most commonly heard about. Someone who is hired for a job in the Information Technology industry can work in cybersecurity, but there is also room to grow if you have or later acquire skills relating to managerial tasks as IT Management can be another viable career choice worth considering. Certifications in Information Technology are helpful for landing a job in that field and finding resources to help you with a CCNA exam is relatively doable, making Information Technology a relatively accessible field for people who have a knack for it.

Software developers and engineers are also often in demand, so if you have a knack for learning new programming languages you stand a decent chance of succeeding in this field. Acquiring computer programming certifications is an important step in getting a good computer programming job, too, and it is extremely easy for an interviewer to test you on programming knowledge that could be relevant to the job in question. If you plan on going for a good software job, practical knowledge that you could be tested on may include programming concepts like bubble sortsmerge sorts, and doubly-linked lists.

Technology sales engineering can be a uniquely rewarding career that fits a certain skill set that not every tech-savvy person is accustomed to, so if you already have a career in marketing and you are looking to go into a tech-heavy field this might be a decent choice for you. A technology sales professional might be tasked with taking the hard technical information of a complex engineering product and converting it into information that a potential customer can use to decide if they want to buy the product or not.

Consequentially, someone who works in technology sales can expect to be the go-to person to talk to if someone needs information on a project since they are the ones who have to know everything about it. They might additionally need to be familiar with the use of marketing tools like those provided by Stratics Networks if they are more into the marketing side of the job than the technical one, but if you like working with people as well as technology this career path might be worth considering.

If you know how to learn you have a decent chance of succeeding in a tech job, but you need to know what you want to focus on if you want to make any progress. Anything from computer hardware to cybersecurity can be considered a "tech job," so you have a fair amount of leeway to find something that you enjoy doing. Not everyone has the technical knowledge required to make many of our modern inventions work, so if you have a detailed understanding of how even one aspect of a smartphone operates, for example, you can probably get a job for a tech company with a bit of searching.
