Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

< Previous | Main | Next >

23rd Sep 2010

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! This Chinese harvest tradition celebrates the roundest, brightest moon of the year, and is a time for celebration, families and thoughts of immortality.

Also known as the Zhongqiu Jie, it can be traced back over 3,000 years to the Shang Dynasty in China, which practiced moon worship. Chinese mythology also links the Festival to the historical legends of Houyi and Chang'e - a story of immortality, little pills, bright lanterns and rabbits on the moon. Get the full story here.

Altogether? Fun!
